The twin-engine jet aircraft designed by Sukhoi performed feats of aerial acrobatics that stunned even longtime aviation enthusiasts.  The name of the aerobatic move is called a "Kulbit" ("Somersault").  The airplane at times falls freely through the air, twisting as it falls, like a giant, 30 ton flower petal.  At other times it appears suspended in midair, pointed in the opposite direction of where it was heading.  The Su-35 can do this due to its powerful AL-41F1S jet engines, which together generate 63,800 pounds of thrust at maximum power, each of which the pilot can then vector in a different directions.
